Mrs. Rawling’s Mess, a stage play in two acts adapted for the Radio Theatre Project by Greg Johnson, Directed by Bob Devin Jones
The events depicted in Mrs. Rawlings’ Mess are based on a 1942 civil lawsuit forinvasion of privacy filed by Zelma Cason against Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, the Pulitzer Prize winning author of The Yearling. Miss Cason objected to her characterization inRawlings’ nonfiction work Cross Creek, a portrait of her rural community in Florida. The legal wrangling between these two Florida pioneers spanned 6 years and reached its height in a 1946 courtroom battle now called the Cross Creek Trial.
